Residential and administrative building, České Budějovice
The project represents a contemporary urban ensemble that completes a previously unfinished block along one of the main city Street and naturally follows the character of the surrounding development. The combination of residential and office functions creates a compact structure with a clearly defined street frontage and a calm inner courtyard, which serves as a semi-public green space for residents and building users alike. The design emphasizes appropriate scale, the quality of public space, and the integration of greenery into everyday use.
As the investor is a law firm, the architectural concept is based on the principle of duality, symbolized by the scales of the goddess of justice, Justitia. The two buildings on the site represent contrasting yet complementary worlds. The front residential building facing the city avenue is light, bright, and open, embodying values associated with living, tranquility, and dignity.
In contrast, the office building located at the rear of the site has a more serious and introverted character. Through its material and color palette, it expresses professionalism, responsibility, and stability. The mutual harmony of the two buildings connects privacy and work, lightness and gravity, creating a balanced whole that reflects the fundamental idea of justice and equilibrium within a contemporary urban environment.
